Room Mothers
School
Each class shall have one homeroom parent who will assist the teacher with parties and various other classroom activities. Parents interested in helping may volunteer at the beginning of the year through the Parent Teacher Fellowship (PTF). This parental involvement is vital for special school activities.

Volunteers
Definition
Volunteers are persons who do not receive compensation for assisting in school programs. Volunteer activities at Danville Christian Academy can be done in a supervised or unsupervised capacity, as listed below:

Supervised Activities
Activities in this category will always occur under the direction and supervision of school staff members, so they do not require that a criminal background check be done.

Unsupervised Activities
Activities in this category will always occur under the direction of school staff members, but may not be directly supervised by those staff members. Volunteers who hope to volunteer in an area where they may be with students in an unsupervised capacity must agree to a background check by Danville Christian Academy.

Records Check
For the safety of our students, a complete background check will be completed by the school administrative office. Information obtained in the process will be kept in the strictest confidentiality. A criminal record does not necessarily mean that a volunteer will be prevented from serving in the schools.

An individual whose criminal background check record reflects a crime that has a nexus to the type of volunteer work applied for, as determined by the Headmaster or his / her designee, will be refused as a volunteer for both supervised and unsupervised activities. If there is a question as to whether or not a crime has a nexus to a volunteer activity, please contact the Headmaster.

Disqualification of Volunteer
All felony and misdemeanor convictions including violations, all prior findings of domestic violence under KRS 403.700 or like statue from another state, and all prior findings of abuse or neglect of a child under KRS 600 or like statue from another state shall be cause for disqualification for one to be able to serve as a volunteer.

The Headmaster of Danville Christian Academy shall have the sole and absolute authority to determine based upon the nature of the conviction/ information received from the background check to allow or disqualify any individual from participating in school programs as a volunteer. No volunteer shall be utilized to supervise students, or deemed to have the authority to supervise students, unless the volunteer has been designated to supervise students by the Headmaster and the volunteer has undergone the required records check.

Volunteer Requirements
All volunteers in the school are subject to and must abide by all rules, regulations, and policies of the Danville Christian Academy. Volunteers will be asked to read and sign a “School Volunteer Agreement”.
