Evaluation of Employees

Evaluation of Personnel
Evaluations of DCA personnel place emphasis on the accomplishment of school goals and objectives, on school results, and on ethical conduct.
Teachers
All teachers at DCA shall be evaluated annually and recommended to the DCA Board for contract renewal or non-renewal at the regular May meeting of the board. Evaluation procedures are outline in the DCA Evaluation Plan. This plan will be reviewed with all staff members within the first 30 days of school. Remediation procedures and techniques may be used as needed. Remediation procedures and techniques are also outlined more specifically in the DCA Evaluation Plan.
Support Staff
Each support staff employee of the DCA shall be evaluated at least annually by the Headmaster using approved evaluation instruments. Remediation procedures and techniques may be used as needed for support staff members. Remediation procedures and techniques are outlined more specifically in the DCA Evaluation Plan.
Walkthroughs
The school administration wants to be encouraging and very supportive of the classroom teachers. The Headmaster will make periodic scheduled and unscheduled classroom visits for the purpose of improving instruction, not to find faults or weaknesses. Teachers are encouraged to share any classroom concerns with the Headmaster. Teacher evaluations will be made with the full knowledge of the person involved. Teachers are encouraged to invite the school administrators to observe any special classroom activities. Their visits are for the purpose of encouraging a well-disciplined, positive school atmosphere.
Personnel Records
All personnel evaluations and reports shall be placed in each employee's permanent personnel file maintained in the office of the Headmaster. Before any evaluation is placed in an employee's permanent file, each employee shall have an opportunity to review and sign the report. The employee shall have ten working days in which to make any written response. Responses shall be included in the permanent personnel file. If an employee refuses to sign an evaluation report, this shall be noted in the evaluation.
